The washer could not pump the water out of the drum within the expected time.

Try these free fixes first

Unplug the washer before opening any panel.

  1. Unplug the washer, place towels and a shallow tray down, then open the drain pump filter at the front bottom and clear out lint, coins and debris.
  2. Check the drain hose for kinks, twists or blockages along its whole length.
  3. Make sure the hose end sits only a short way into the standpipe and the drain point is at the right height for your model.
  4. Check the sink trap or standpipe the washer drains into is not itself blocked.
  5. Use less detergent, as heavy foam can stop the machine draining properly.
